4-H volunteers provide adult leadership and guidance to youth in fourth through twelfth grades. The 4-H club can be organized as a traditional club toughing on many topics or focused on a specific interest such as biking, photography, gardening, computers, cooking, arts and crafts or any of the other topics in the 4-H curriculum. Most clubs meet once a month (for 1.5 to 2 hours) throughout the year and participate in the curriculum. Most clubs meet once a month throughout the year and participate in the Polk County 4-H Fair in July. Leader time commitment averages 50 hours per year. Training and resources are provided by the Iowa State University Extension, Polk County 4-H program. Opportunities are available in all areas of Polk County.
A background check will be conducted on all volunteers working with 4-H youth.  This opportunity is sponsored by: Iowa State University Extension, Polk County
