The JA Elementary programs are filled with fun, interactive lessons that teach kids about business and economic concepts. Through a series of five lessons, which include stories, puzzles and games, kids experience how to run a doughnut factory, design a city and start a business. JA’s Middle School programs allow the volunteer to act as a mentor and career expert to students making their first decisions about the world of work and personal economics. Through six exciting, real-life lessons, students discover business and finance, explore career options and plan for future successes. JA High School programs help students prepare to enter college and the workforce. With anywhere from 8-12 lessons, JA classes take an in-depth look at the intricacies of the U.S. economic system and the emerging global economy. Whether through a computer-based market simulation like JA Titan or a discussion of personal financial literacy, high school students learn to use the concepts taught at previous grade levels to improve the quality of their lives. Job Shadow Day is an opportunity available to all students; however, it is most appropriate for middle and high school students. Businesses can host a class of students at their location for ½ day. This visit could include a tour of the facility and partnering with team members/employees.
After going through a brief orientation and receiving a Junior Achievement kit, you will be matched with a teacher and visit your classroom once a week for anywhere from five to ten weeks to facilitate a series of 45-minute lessons. We’ll provide you with a set of very easy to follow QCC aligned lesson plans and encourage you to add your own twist.
