AARP Tax-Aide Tax Preparer

Purpose of the Position: AARP Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax service that works in partnership with the IRS. Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation and can electronically file both federal and state returns for those who need it the most – taxpayers with middle to low income, with special attention to those over the age of 60.

New Tax Preparers – Option 1:
Meet with AARP’s training staff from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 at Campbell Senior Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. This training includes computer processing of returns, tax return preparation, tax law and Tax-Wise On-line. On January 11th, from 9 a.m. to noon, meet at Serbu Youth Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Eugene, for assignments and AARP orientation. January 18, 2008 – Serbu Center, complete and pass the AARP test and submit to AARP District Coordinator, Sharon Looney, certifications will be granted at that time.

Using the IRS on-line “Link and Learn” site and workbook, undertake a self-directed study in computer processing of returns, tax return preparation, tax law and Tax-Wise On-line. Special skills and talents required: An interest in people, a desire to help our friends and neighbors and a smattering of computer skills.
