Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on January 5, 2010 |
The Waiting Room Volunteer serves as a liaison between families and patients, and may also be called on to assist the nursing staff and guests. Our volunteers are community members who provide service to patients and their families. They work together with staff members to enhance the quality of care. The Waiting Room Volunteers help to create an atmosphere of welcome and genuine personal concern for the patients and their families as well as the staff. The volunteers exemplify the spirit and values of Catherine McAuley, the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy who's life was dedicated to caring for all with compassion and dignity. Selected candidates attend an orientation. Majority of our volunteers volunteer one day a week for 4 hours. Volunteers assume the following responsibilities:
- To maintain the dignity and integrity of the patients.
- To carry out duties promptly and reliably.
- To comply with all hospital rules and regulations.
- Minimum age is 16 years old.
