The volunteer will be another nurturing, supportive adult in the classroom for children, ages 2-5, whose parents have cognitive limitations. One of our volunteers said that working with the children is the highlight of her week. Join us and discover the joy of being a part of a young child's life as they explore and learn through play. Volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday from 9 to 12:30 pm. The need for volunteers is most critical on Tuesday and Thursday from 9-12:30 when the two year old children are at school. These little ones are experiencing being away from their mothers for the first time and need lots of loving, supportive care. Volunteers help make that possible. The three and four year old children are at the center Monday through Thursday from 9-12:30 and we have three new Head Start classrooms that are here from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Volunteers help give these children some individual attention and encouragement. Volunteers are welcome to come for all or part of a day in each of the classrooms. We are happy to work with you to accommodate your needs as well as the needs of the children. The Pearl Buck Preschool prepares children for a successful transition to kindergarten. All volunteers will be given an orientation to the program which takes about one hour. A handbook and description of the volunteers responsibilities will be provided. Most of the training will be provided by the teaching staff.. This opportunity is sponsored by: Pearl Buck Center Incorporated
