Volunteers to help run the YWCA Central Area Food Bank. The food bank serves upwards of 80 needy families with food once a week in 3 shifts to help with unloading and organizing food, stocking shelves and most importantly, distributing food to the families who need it. Volunteers must be energetic, friendly, interested in interacting with wide range of people, able to effectively organize, and able to work in a team setting. Our current needs are every Wednesday 2 volunteers each in several shifts. Either a 9-12 shift that gets the food unloaded, organized, and the food bank area ready to open, 11-1pm shift that helps bridge that shift and this next one; a 1-3pm which is running the food bank, working with clients, helping them find what they need, bag them up, weigh the bags, and help with paperwork. The 2-4pm shift is more of the above, but then the collection of paperwork, cleaning up and closing up for the night. This is a recurring opportunity and needs a strong weekly commitment. Training will be provided for volunteers. We have a HIGH NEED for our 12-3 shift! We are looking for 2 volunteers to run the morning shift, with high commitments, very organized, and ready to claim the food bank as theirs.
