Help a good cause! Be part of something big! The American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure Committee is seeking motivated and attentive volunteers of all ages to join our Tour de Cure event management team. There are a number of different volunteer opportunities and levels of time commitment that we would like to share with you: Weekends During the Months of October 2011-April 2012 This opportunity will take place prior to the weekend of our event during the months of October-April. Tour Ambassadors are needed for the following areas:
- Market the Tour de Cure by building relationships with vendors, riders at weekend fitness events.
- Assist with promotions by passing out flyers and postcards.
- Other preliminary duties.
Monday, May 28, 2012-Friday, June 1, 2012 As an integral part of the Tour team, you can provide help in any of the following areas:
- Print and prepare materials.
- Stuff rider packets, goody bags and sort T-shirts.
- Unload, sort and setup venue to get the event site prepared for Saturday morning.
- Sign distribution.
- Other preliminary duties.
Saturday, June 2, 2012 and Sunday, June 3, 2012 The days our riders have been waiting for have finally arrived. As an integral part of the Tour team, you can provide help in any of the following areas:
- Check-In Area: Welcomes the riders, helps check them in and get them out on the route.
- Food/Water Areas: Make sure riders are fueled properly with breakfast, lunch and lots of water!
- Safety and Security: Help riders get on their way quickly and easily by helping with areas such as car and bike parking.
- Motorcycle Escort: Monitors route activity, cruises the course looking for any riders needing assistance, and tracks the first and last riders on the course.
- Rest Stop: Serves refreshments and offers support, encouragement and lots of cheering!
- Finish Line: Cheers riders in after completing their day, serves refreshments and distributes T-shirts.
