Oh, Baby! Baby Blanket Project- no sewing required

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 3, 2011

Edgerton Women's Health Center, a non-profit agency, accepts baby blanket donations throughout the year. Edgerton delivers approximately 450 infants each year and many of the families struggle, financially. Edgerton's goal is to provide each newborn with a new, hand-made baby blanket before, or soon after, the birth. We have received many beautiful knit, fleece, quilted and crochet baby blankets from area volunteers. We will gladly accept donations of yarn, fleece, fabric and ribbon so that we can provide volunteers with the materials to make the baby blankets. (We also recruit volunteers to sew baby tag toys out of fabric and ribbon). Please consider your time and talents to provide baby blankets. Contact Amy at 563-823-9254 if you have any questions. Thank you.

Volunteers make the blankets on their own, and then call for a pick-up or drop them off at Edgerton Women's Health Center.
Fleece baby blankets are made with two pieces of polar fleece material, and the ends are tied together to make a warm blanket for a baby. We also accept blankets that are quilted, crochet or knit for those who have the talent and would like to donate completed blankets.
Baby Tag Toys: requires sewing experience and instructions to assemble using fabric and ribbon. Please call Amy at 563-823-9254 for questions and instructions.
