SHIBA Outreach Specialist – Thurston County With over 30,000 seniors and low income community members qualifying for SHIBA counseling services and expertise in Thurston County, your community needs you. As a SHIBA Outreach Specialist you will receive free training on the most current medical plan information and provided resources to assist in bringing basic SHIBA services low income persons and seniors throughout Thurston County. You will have the opportunity to present SHIBA information throughout Thurston County. If you like to meet new people, help people, and talk about healthcare, then this is the position for you.
S.H.I.B.A Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisers Outreach Duties: • Provide clients with assistance in person • Actively listen to clients and refer clients to assistive health services • Input outreach data into computer system • Provide clients with health resources Free Training • All training will be provided for FREE • 8 hours of free training from the State Insurance Commissioner’s Office • Mentor to assist you • Access to the most current medical plan information available Benefits: • Directly help and make a difference in your community • Fun • Challenging • Access to the latest trainings and medial program information • Have a Voice in the healthcare system - Educate the Office of the Insurance Commission how legislation or lack of legislation affects clients • Flexible volunteering options (weekdays, nights, and weekends)
• People friendly • Willing to learn basic computer system • Attend trainings • Support your team members • Not be affiliated with (i.e. licensed, employed by or in a position to sell) any any insurance agency company, product, or service. • Pass a background check
