NYC Parks and Recreation seeks your participation to enrich our recreation facilities! Shape Up New York is a free fitness program for all ages and is looking for additional instructors at Pelham Fritz Recreation Center. Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of classes and activities, including aerobics, yoga and pilates. Volunteers must have some experience as a fitness instructor, and once accepted, will have the opportunity to shadow a current instructor before leading their own classes. This position offers a lot of flexibility and creativity for enthusiastic volunteers interested in giving back to their communities and addressing pressing health issues such as Diabetes and Obesity.
Volunteers are required to undergo a background check and attend one day of training prior to starting. Classes are offered once a week for a six to eight week period. This opportunity is sponsored by: New York City Department of Parks & Recreation
