Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on November 24, 2009 |
Lots of people like to browse the book collection, pulling out books, looking at them and then setting them aside. By the end of the day, some of the shelves are pretty messy making it harder for the next person to see what we really have. The Library needs a volunteer who can come in early in the day to straighten the shelves, put books on a cart to be reshelved, put carts of books in order and also look carefully at shelves to make sure everything is in the correct call number order. If an items is far away from its proper place on the shelf, it is essentially lost. The Arlington Public Library provides access to information, creates connections among people and promotes reading and culture--for every Arlingtonian and other patrons. You are invited to join our group of 150+ volunteers and help us meet our mission. You can make a big difference in the quality of library service in your community. Library volunteers share their time and talents in many ways. Whether you are interested in working with the public or behind the scenes, in making a weekly commitment or working on a short-term project, we have a number of positions to choose from. Plus, we train. We hope to help you acquire new skills and work experience, and to feel appreciated for the contributions you make.
We need someone who is dependable, enjoys working with details, and gains satisfaction from creating organization out of chaos. To volunteer, click on the link for the application. https://www.arlingtonva.us/Departments/Libraries/support/LibrariesVolForm.htm The volunteer coordinator will review your application and get back to you. You can generally expect to hear back from her within 5 business days of submitting your application.
