Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Join assisted living residents on trips to local places and events of interest, as well as shopping trips,picnics, walks to Library. Days and times open are Monday mornings, Wednesday mornings, occasional other weekdays and Saturday. Monthly longer Wednesday afternoon trips to places like the Aquarium, other sites of interest. Volunteers accompany staff on Foss bus and assist residents with purchases, push those with wheelchairs, if necessary, and enjoy the sites and company. Volunteers' admissions are paid and lunch on certain outings provided. Residents are always delighted to be out of their routine environment and schedules, and volunteers find their uplifted spirits contagious. Serving as a trip escort often forges new friendships.

Tolerance for slow walking and pushing those people in wheelchairs. Ability to communicate clearly. Sense of humor and positive disposition desirable. Patience with older adults is necessary. The minimum age for this opportunity is 18 years and older.
