Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteer Escorts needed for Oakwood Village East and West Retirement Communities' independent living resident bus trips a few times a month. Day and time negotiable and flexible based on monthly resident bus trip schedule and potential volunteers' availability. Trips to include dining outings (lunch or dinner), trips to area museums and galleries, plays or musical performances, day trips and other outings as scheduled through the Oakwood Village East and West independent living Events and Activities Departments.

Volunteers are greatly needed for this opportunity to provide the Events and Activities staff with bus trip escorts to rely on. This will allow the staff to continue to schedule and provide a wide variety of bus trips to continue to meet the residents' needs on an ongoing basic.

Assistance to include keeping track of residents' whereabouts at time of departure, during trips and prior to making return, and acting as liaison with staff at any designated trip stops.

Required application and interview for potential volunteers with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator. Orientation and training provided by Volunteer Services Coordinator and Oakwood Village East or West Events and Activities staff for new volunteers upon placement. Potential volunteers need good organizational and social skills to include being courteous and cooperative in working with Oakwood Village residents, Oakwood bus drivers and others (based on trip destination).
