Volunteers needed to assist with bird caretaking and light cleaning of Oakwood Village East aviaries. Volunters are needed to help once a week, during the week (Monday-Friday) or on the weekends, for 2-3 hours to help with caretaking of the 4 aviaries. Day and time are negotiable and flexible based on potential volunteers' availability. Multiple volunteers are welcome and responsibilities can be split to have 1-2 volunteers take care of 2 aviaries each. Volunteers need to have ability to bend for getting in and out of aviary in completing light housekeeping duties. Assistance includes refilling birds' drinking water bottle, replenishing bird seed, cleaning up debris on bottom of aviaries and cleaning aviaries plexiglass windows. This assistance is very important and beneficial to maintain a healthy environment for the birds which in turn provides enjoyment for the Oakwood East residents who enjoy watching the birds.
Required application and interview with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator for registration and screening purposes in order to be considered for placement. Orientation and training provided by Volunteer Services Coordinator and Oakwood Village East Housekeeping Director for new volunteer to learn about aviary responsibilities upon placement. Volunteers need to have good organizational skills and physical ability to bend for going in and out of aviaries as needed in part for fulfilling responsibilities. Oakwood Village East is located at 5565 Tancho Drive, near American Family Insurance Headquarters, in the vicinity of Hwy. 151 and I-90/94. From Hwy. 151, take the American Parkway exit and following American Parkway to Tancho Drive. Turn right onto Tancho and immediately turn left into the Oakwood Village East main entrance. Oakwood East is accessible by car only at this time. |
