MABD n-Kind Donations Management Team

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on May 15, 2009

Volunteer with the HIAS and Council Refugee Resettlement Program as member of our Make a Big Difference Volunteer Team! HIAS and Council was recently awarded a grant through the United Way and Coming of Age to organize a team of volunteers age 50+ to work on an In-Kind Donations Management Project.

Help the HIAS and Council Refugee Resettlement Program solve our ongoing donation storage dilemma by working as a team to start up a Donations Management Project. The end goal is a “thrift store” where in-kind donations will be stored and organized in a way that makes them easily accessible to the Resettlement Program caseworkers, volunteers, and refugee clients. The successful implementation of this project will allow the HIAS and Council Refugee Resettlement Program to better serve our current clients and continue to successfully resettle more refugees in the future. The MABD volunteers will have the opportunity to use their individual talents and problem solving skills to help low-income refugee families. The project will also provide MABD volunteers with opportunities to learn new skills, strengthen existing talents, and to interact with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

The MABD Team will consist of 4-7 volunteers who are committed to work on the In-Kind Donations Management Project for a minimum of 7 months.

We are looking for volunteers with a range of professional and life experience who are dedicated to helping those in need.

Please contact Jessi Koch, Volunteer and Outreach Manager, at jkoch@hiaspa.org for more details.

Volunteers will receive on-going training relative to the work of HIAS and Council and the refugee populations we serve

I have not volunteered since I was in highschool. I really enjoyed it, so I thought I'd try it again
