Many students at Aiea are not being read to at home. Because we can't go to the student's homes and make sure they are hearing books in the evenings to correct this problem, we are bringing volunteers to the school to read to the students during lunch. The lunch period is from 10:45-12:05 and it is broken up into two different lunches. One for grades K-2 and another for 3-6. Volunteers will read to a group of two or three students each lunch, with grades K-2 being served during the first lunch and 3rd grade during the second lunch.
No training is necessary. Volunteers will simply read to students from a list of pre-selected books.
