Join the Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in organizing the first ever Maine Race for the Cure in PORTLAND!! Be one of the first volunteers to bring this remarkable breast cancer event to Portland!
The Portland Race will kick off in September of 2010 and we need folks to help today!
Volunteer applications are being accepted now for a limited pool of 15-20 core volunteers.
Volunteers needed in the following areas:
• Registration
• Data Entry
• Breast Cancer Survivor outreach
• Distribution of posters/flyers
The Portland Race will happen concurrently with the Maine Race for the Cure in Bangor, making this a true statewide effort.
The Bangor Race, now in its thirteenth year, is the largest 5K run/walk in the State of Maine, drawing more than 4,600 participants and raising over $269,000 for the Komen Maine Affiliate in 2008. "The Race has broken attendance and revenue records its last three years, but the key to future growth for this event will be making it accessible to the people of southern Maine," says Komen Maine Affiliate's Executive Director, Sally Bilancia, "We have received numerous requests over the years from those wanting to start or participate in a Portland Race for the Cure event. We are thrilled to be able to deliver this opportunity in 2010."
