I CARE volunteers serve DeKalb County senior citizens in need of free transportation to medical appointments.

Description:
I CARE volunteers use their own vehicles to drive seniors to their appointments. The seniors appreciate both the transportation and the caring companionship our volunteers provide. Our volunteers have very flexible schedules - they simply let our office know their availability and we call them when a senior requests a ride. In most cases the volunteer waits in the medical office until the appointment is completed and then drive the senior safely home. Whether a volunteer can drive once per week or once every month or two - all of our drivers play an important role in keeping these seniors healthy.

History:
I CARE was founded by a group of concerned citizens in 1998. It is an efficiently-run nonprofit with a two-person staff, in donated office space.
