The Institute’s mission is to enable refugees, immigrants, and their families to become fully participating citizens in their new communities.
Description:
The Institute’s Legal Department provides high-quality, free and low cost assistance to low-income immigrants. The program currently provides information and services to thousands of people each year from all over the world. Services include representation in almost all types of family and self petitions from staff attorneys and accredited representatives. IIBA-Oakland is a national leader in application training and technical assistance to agencies working with immigrant crime victims. We are a collegial team, working in an atmosphere that is comfortable and professional.
History:
Founded in 1919, the International Institute of the Bay Area-Oakland is one of the oldest, most established organizations in the Bay Area serving immigrants and refugees by helping them to become self-sufficient, proud contributing members in American society. We have continually made an impact on the immigrant community in the East Bay through our services, and we strive to increase the number of clients that we serve every year.
