Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming serves all girls everywhere providing an affirming foundation and safe environment which supports learning, self-esteem, and positive values to meet the challenges and opportunities of Today's and Tomorrow's changing world.

Description:
Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming provides quality programming for girls. The Four Program Goals of Girl Scouts provides the bedrock for all of the materials, activities, and programs that are developed for girls. These goals are:

1. Girls will develop to their full potential.
2. ...relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
3. ...develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide the foundation for sound decision making.
4. ...contribute to the improvement of society through the use of their abilities and leadership skills, working in cooperation with others.
   
   

As a values based organization, Girl Scouts finds its foundation in the Promise and the Law (which can be found on the Girl Scouts of the USA website: www.girlscouts.org). There are five basic levels in Girl Scouts and girls range in age from 5-17. They are all part of a worldwide movement that has members in more than 100 nations.

History:
In 1926, 14 girls became members of the first Girl Scout troop in Billings, Montana.

In 1934, the Billings Girl Scout Council united all the area troops into one governing body.
In October 1951, Midland Empire Girl Scout Council was chartered. It became one of four councils in the state. Midland Empire served an area of 18,000 square miles including three counties and five lone troops. By 1956, there were 107 troops, 1382 Girl Scouts.

In 1973 the Girl Scouts Treasure Trails Council began serving eastern Montana.

On May 1st, 2008, the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming began serving girls from the three legacy councils of Treasure Trails Council, Big Sky Council, and Wyoming. The council serves more than 10,000 girls spread over 244,813 square miles in the two states. Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming is the largest geographically of all Girl Scout councils in the contiguous 48 states, extending 999 miles from the northwest to the southeast.

The building is a two story building on the north side of Grand Avenue. It the building east of the Holiday gas station on the corner of Grand and 8th.
