The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) invites adults age 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to answer the call of their neighbors and communities in need.

Description:
RSVP of Lane County invites 55+ adults to put their experience to work solving problems close to home. Whether teaching children or adults to read, creating a recycling program, or providing much needed support to non-profit agencies, RSVP volunteers are making their communities stronger.

Since its inception more than 30 years ago, RSVP has grown from 11 projects to over 750 nationally. The myriad of skills our volunteers share with their communities has grown during the past three decades. Through partnerships with a wide variety of national, state, county, community and faith-based organizations, RSVP projects across the county will continue to creative positive change in their neighborhoods.

Getting involved is the key to RSVP. Your hard work can solve problems, and you'll get back even more than you give.

History:
The Lane County RSVP program is one of the oldest in the nation. In 2002 over 500 RSVP volunteers provided services in their Lane County communities. From working at Senior Nutrition sites to making quilts for children in need; assisting in hospitals and at the courthouse; or joining together to sing and provide recreational opportunities RSVP volunteers are active and provide essential services throughout the County.

The United Way of Lane County has been the program sponsor since January 2003. The program is an integral part of the Volunteer Center of United Way. RSVP of Lane County is actively seeking new partners with volunteer opportunities, and new volunteers.
