4-H Youth Program
| Last updated on July 13, 2011 |
The mission of 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society. The focus of 4-H is on helping people learn to help themselves, who then learn to help others.
Description:
The 4-H Youth Program is a "learn-by-doing" educational program for kids between the ages of 5 and 18. The foundation of the program is adult volunteers and their diverse experiences, through which kids can explore and learn "real life" skills while developing into responsible and productive citizens. Professional staff are available to assist in the development of programs as well as training adults how to teach others. Local clubs often plan and conduct their own events. You can have a one-topic club or become involved in many subjects. Our staff is there to work with you to develop a program designed specifically for your needs and interests. All it takes is at least five youths and one caring adult. Be the one to make a difference.
History:
The 4-H Program is the youth development component of the Cooperative Extension Service. The Palm Beach County CES is a joint venture with the United States Department of Agriculture, the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and Palm Beach County helping people, business leaders, and government officials address issues and needs through education and research.
