Overall Experience

One of the most gratifying things I've ever done.

Having been a volunteer with the Neighborhood Health Agency exposed me to a world I did not know much about, and that is the world of hospice
and volunteering. I got to meet interesting people and listen to their life stories. Although many of the people I met were nearing the end of their lives and had all sorts of ailments they still had much to talk
about.
For anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of another, volunteering is definitely the way to go. It shows that you care for
others and are willing to make sacrifices.
If anyone would ask me if I would do it again, I would automatically say, "YES"! posted by sgoeser on June 17, 2004 |

I got to help people in need of it and make some friends along the way. I will never forget it.

I gained a sincere appreciation for volunteer organizations and the people who put all that time and effort into running them. I know that my experience has been worthwhile and meaningful and I thank Hospice for giving me that opportunity. Finally, I most certainly have a greater appreciation for life in general. posted by aarongizer on June 9, 2004 |

Neighborhood Hospice is an excellent place for all sorts of volunteers. I volunteered as a teen volunteer at Barclay friends Nursing Home in West Chester with a group of friends and really enjoyed it. The volunteer coordinator and everyone else worked hard to make ity easy for us to volunteer, and as a result, we have gained so much.
Despite what many people may think about a hospice, it isn't all death and dying. Instead, you're working to help people enjoy the last days of your life.
I hope that whoever reads this reflection realizes what a great program this is and will take the time to get involved. posted on June 27, 2002 |
