| Last updated on April 30, 2012 |
Mission: To foster environmental awareness, knowledge and a conservation ethic in citizens of all ages. Wehr Nature Center functions as a "living laboratory" and an educational public information center to promote the care of the earth.
Description:
Wehr Nature Center is a 220 acre nature preserve located in Whitnall Park, part of Milwaukee County Parks. Age appropriate and seasonal programs for children and adults are developed and presented by professional naturalists and trained volunteers. The staff develops programs and coordinates them with existing school curriculum and important natural history information to facilitate the infusion of environmental education concepts into the classroom. Several special events are offered to the public throughout the year. Volunteers go through an interview and check of references and there is a small fee for a background check.
