Description:
Our Mission
The Y of Central Maryland is a charitable organization dedicated to developing the full potential of every individual through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Our Commitment
At the Y, we are committed to providing family-oriented, affordable, high quality programs that lead to:
- every child and youth deepening positive values, their commitment to service and their motivation to learn
- every family building stronger bonds, achieving greater work/life balance and becoming more engaged with their community
- an enhanced quality of life in the communities in which we operate
Our Values
Our programs and services are infused with our four positive character values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. We are committed to challenging our members, staff and volunteers to accept and demonstrate these values.
The People We Serve
Serving over 150,000 people each year in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties, we are the largest provider of child care in Maryland and employ over 800 in health & wellness, camping & youth sports, and child care & family services. Our programs are offered at seven health & wellness centers, two program service centers, 15 Head Start centers, 11 preschool centers, 44 before and after school centers, and 24 youth place centers.
Open To All
The Y is a place for everyone. People of all races, ages, faiths, gender, abilities, and incomes are welcome and financial assistance on a sliding scale is available to those who would otherwise be unable to participate. This assistance enables more than 10,000 youth and adults to participate in Y programs and is funded through the generosity of our donors.
Financial Assistance
The Y is a non-profit organization committed to developing positive character and building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Financial assistance is available on a sliding scale to those who would otherwise be unable to participate in a Y experience.
