In operation for more than 6 years, the Mark Woodings Education Foundation's (MWEF)objective is to provide rewarding educational experiences for students throughout the year. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, one of the key programs focuses on selecting students that have an excellent scholastic record, have a desire to excel in the sciences and are overcoming extenuating family circumstances, including single parent families, large families transient families, families with long term illnesses (especially mental illness) or with low levels of education, violent and abusive families or families that lack the resources to support education. The MWEF's mission revolves around enriching the student's personal, technical, and interpersonal skills. Working under the guidance of professionals from business, education, research, medicine and techniology, the selected students have the opportunity to gain valuable experience during a six week summer internship. Matched with a company / mentor who shares their interest areas, students are introduced to specific problem solving tasks and are encouraged to develop analytical reasoning and creative thinking skills.

Additionally, the MWEF supports Boy Scouts in the Conroe, Texas area primarily focusing on involving younger Hispanic or "at risk" students. This program, in contrast to the ongoing six week internship program, provides for long term sustained development of boys. The program begins with elementary age youth, Cub Scouts, and grows with them into middle school age of traditional Boy Scouts, and then within 3 to 4 years, allowing them to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. This program promotes character development, citizenship and physical fitness. In additional, the program promotes youth achievement, rank advancement, outdoor skills and leadership opportunities.
