M. D. Anderson Children's Art Project
| Last updated on March 9, 2012 |
To convey to the public the compassionate, caring face of M. D. Anderson and to generate revenue to enhance patient services through the sale of products created with children's art.
Description:
The Children's Art Project will make life better for cancer patients and their families through the marketing and sale of innovative products based on the artwork of pediatric cancer patients. Your support of the Children's Art Project provides the means to send children on a camping adventure - a week to forget about cancer and a week to share experiences with friends - a week to do art - a week to laugh and enjoy the wonders of summer!
History:
For more than 35 years, the Children's Art Project at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has made life better for children with cancer. Through worldwide sales of young cancer patients' original artwork featured on seasonal note cards and gift items, the project has returned more than $26 million to programs that benefit cancer patients and their families. Each year, the project offers Holiday, Everyday and Valentine collections of note cards and gift items. Last year, card and gift sales funded $1.25 million in programs benefiting M. D. Anderson patients. While the Children's Art Project's highest priority is giving children with cancer opportunities to live a more normal childhood and prepare successfully for adulthood, the project also provides programs accessible to the more than 70,000 patients of all ages served each year at M. D. Anderson. Through the years, this network of support and friendship is very much a part of the culture at the Children's Art Project. Friendships made sustain our children through difficult treatments, little triumphs — and sometimes through heartbreak. When you purchase cards and gifts from CAP you are helping us fund many patient-focused programs at M. D. Anderson.
