Agency Details:

PARTI Program

The P.A.R.T.I. (Positive Alternative Recreation Teambuilding Impact) Program promotes education around healthy lifestyles and healthy decision making to many young people from under served communities who will experience the growth that comes from participating in programs that will challenge them and give them the skills to make positive choices for their lives.

Description:
The P.A.R.T.I. Program is widely known as a dedicated, non-profit organization with the primary mission of enhancing critical thinking skills in today’s youth by providing teambuilding classes, retreats, recreational activities, cultural diversity training and mentoring programs.

Over the past 10 years the PARTI Program has partnered with the East Side Union High School District to provide tobacco, leadership, and multicultural activities for students on campuses. Activities have included lunch time Healthy Lifestyles Rallies, Summer Leadership program, life skill classes and case management. Our partnership allows us access to facilities, meeting and office space, locations to hold activities and events, plus access to our target population. The PARTI Program has also partnered with San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College to provide training that includes leadership, healthy lifestyles and fitness, and activities that promote culture and community. Through these partnerships, the PARTI Program has been able to partner with the city of San Jose B.E.S.T., Valley Medical Foundation, The Health Trust, and the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs. The PARTI Program also has developed a unique partnership with the Holiday Inn Express in San Jose where we hold meetings, events and trainings. Furthermore, the PARTI Program has collaborated with organizations such as, Friday Night live, Hoop It Up, Public Allies, and Project Cornerstone. The PARTI Program has always valued partnerships and collaborations.

The PARTI Program is one of the few organizations that provide leadership activities after 5 p.m., weekends and during school vacation. It has had a significant impact because there is a strong need for services to be offered during these critical times. The PARTI Program engages participants through culture, music, fashion, and cooperative games and activities.

History:
Started in 2000 by Winston Ashby, the PARTI Leadership Program was created to address community violence with alternative programming. In the past 5 years, with over 7,500 volunteer hours the P.A.R.T.I. Program has been in the East Side Union High School District. We have had approximately 500 students (which represents five cycles of 100 unduplicated students) over the past five years youth ages 12-19 have actively participated in our program. The age break down is as follows: age 12-15= 225 participants; 16-19= 275 participants.

For over five years, with over 10,900 hours the PARTI program has been in the East Side Union High School District and the city of San Jose. Or staff reflects culturally and linguistically the students served by the program. The PARTI program has developed a strong reputation among many high schools in San Jose due to our ability to communicate and engage students from various cultures and languages.
