CHOC (Community Homeless Outreach Center)
Lancaster’s daytime outreach center meets the basic needs of the chronically homeless in a safe, supportive, minimally intrusive environment, while also indentifying opportunities to connect members of this population with appropriate services and agencies in Lancaster County.
Description:
The Community Homeless Outreach Center is a daytime drop-in facility that provides a safe haven for chronically homeless individuals to rest, shower, launder clothing and receive help with accessing human services. By meeting basic hygiene needs and connecting clients with existing service providers, the Center serves as a single point of entry for chronically homeless people to start along a path toward permanent housing and stable lives.
History:
CHOC opened in November 2007 and is a partnership between Tabor Community Services and Water Street Mission.
