PACE Center For Girls
| Last updated on July 15, 2011 |
PACE provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.
Description:
PACE CENTER FOR GIRLS is the only non-residential, gender specific, non-profit prevention and intervention program for girls at-risk for juvenile delinquency in the State of Florida. PACE Palm Beach was established in 1996 to serve girls who do not function well in the mainstream school environment academically or socially and generally have dysfunction in their personal lives. They are in need of intensive counseling and life skills education. PACE girls are generally in academic failure due to truancy, dropping out of school altogether, or they experience academic challenges further confounding their frustration which often translates to poor behavior choices. The services at PACE are available to all girls in the county at no cost to the family. PACE Center for Girls of Palm Beach County now serves approximately 100 girls throughout the year.
History:
PACE (Practical, Academic and Cultural Education) Center for Girls was founded in Jacksonville in 1985, with $100 and a donated room in a local church. PACE Centers are now located in 17 of Florida’s counties due to the significant success it has had with adolescent girls.
