Hospice offers a positive response to dying; it is hard medicine with a human face. It is the best of traditional medicine blended with an awareness of the complexity of the human spirit.
We believe that hospice care affirms life. We exist to provide support and care for persons in the last stages of an incurable disease, so that they can live as fully and comfortably as possible. We recognize dying as an inevitable process, and strive to preserve the dignity of the dying patient by emphasizing the quality rather than the length of life. We will neither hasten nor postpone death. Hospice of the Sandias is dedicated to erasing the misconceptions and fears lying behind modern perceptions of death and dying, and we must learn to honor life itself.
