The mission of Altenheim is to achieve the optimal level of mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of individuals, families, and community being served through the provision of high quality residential living, skilled nursing care, and specialized services offered in a family-like atmosphere.

Description:
The Altenheim Nursing Home and Shurmer Place are located in Strongsville, Ohio. The Altenheim Nursing Home has 150 licensed skilled nursing care beds, while Shurmer Place has 60 assisted living facility units. The "Altenheim" as the combined business units are generally known, employ in excess of 300 employees, making it Strongsville's largest single employer.

History:
The Altenheim first opened its' doors over a century ago, in 1892, on Detroit Rd. in Cleveland. In 1980, the Altenheim relocated to its' present home in the city of Strongsville. Strongly supported by the German-American community, the Altenheim has become known as one of the finest senior living communities anywhere.
