The Pinelands Cultural Society (PCS) is dedicated to preserving and stimulating interest in the cultural heritage of the people of the NJ Pinelands of southern New Jersey. Cultural elements including live and recorded music, artifacts, history, legends and literature all fall within the purview of PCS. The goal of PCS was to construct a building to house the Saturday night shows and to serve as a repository for historically significant material.

Description:
PCS operates the 350-seat Albert Music Hall in Waretown, NJ to support its mission to preserve the live "traditional" weekly musical gatherings in the likeness and spirit of those begun over half a century ago at the Albert brother's cabin in the NJ Pinelands. Operating as a "living history" venue, live, all-volunteer musical concerts, typically consisting of 7 groups playing 30-minute sets, are presented every Saturday night. The Hall also serves as a repository for Pinelands relevant artifacts, recordings, photographs and documentation.
As no one, management, staff, or musicians receive any monetary reimbursement, all proceeds from shows go to operating the Hall and to furthering the education of children through scholarships.

History:
Joe & George Albert began to hold weekly musical gatherings at the "Homeplace" in the early 1950's. The "Homeplace" was a deer lodge cabin on Bryant Road in the Brookville section of the pines west of Waretown, NJ. After George Albert passed in 1973, musicians from the gatherings organized and formally incorporated PCS in 1974.
Albert Music Hall continued weekly performances in a rented Auction Hall in Waretown Plaza from 1974 through July 1992 when the Auction Hall was completely destroyed by fire.
Saturday concerts continued continued in the parking lot until in August 1992. PCS then moved to the Priff School in Waretown, NJ. The PCS Scholarship fund was started that month.
PCS proceeded to design and build the present 350-seat Albert Music Hall building which opened on Jan. 5, 1997. All interior finishing, state of the art sound equipment, and stage set design and construction was accomplished by PCS volunteers.
In Sep. 2000, PCS was formally established in the Library of Congress Folklife Archives, Washington, DC.
Albert Music Hall has appeared in numerous articles in National Geographic
