Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services is reaching out to the local community to help drive a new program. The QACAC is focusing on its volunteer program to enhance the level of service provided the 1000+ animals who visit the center each year. Positions vary from actual hands-on interaction with animals in the facility to more community oriented programs. We have multiple positions inside and outside of the center that, when filled, will benefit the center, the animals and the community residents it serves.

Description:
Our current focus is establishing the CORE GROUP or Board that will direct this project. So anyone with a background in marketing, media, technology, human resources or other volunteer programs are encouraged to step forward to be the Initial Board of Directors. Concurrently, in addition to these executive positions, we will fill positions as described below.

Volunteer positions are basically broker down into internal jobs that are done inside the kennel and external positions that have allot of interaction with the public. For those interested in hands on contact with the animals inside the facility we need people for socializing, exercising and grooming animals along with the daily maintenance of the kennels. Outside of the facility there are many positions that ultimately lead to direct community contact. Those positions include working with rescue groups, media exposure, adoption home visits, fund raising, community education, adoption days and other programs.

History:
The Queen Anne's County Department of Animal Services is a county government run facility that currently has a staff of 11 full time employees and has a budget that is determined by the elected commissioners of Queen Anne's County. A volunteer program will add to the service levels already provided at the facility.
