History:
It started when Eleanor Roosevelt visited Des Moines, Iowa in 1953 to speak for the American Association for the United Nations. The people that controlled the meeting fear of controversial so they cancelled it. Another meeting took place in a church and Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt delivered her message to a big crowd. The Iowa Division was established to carry on what has became decades of dedication to, promotion of, and education for the United Nations. Its course has brought a national reputation for consistent and innovative leadership in the quest for world peace.
