The Carpinteria Valley Arts Council will foster all of the arts for all ages, encourage inter-generational activities, and nurture creativity through the inclusion of the rich cultural diversity of the community. It will support a strong volunteer program as well as both professional and amateur endeavors, shows and performances

Description:
Carpinteria Valley Arts Council operates a non profit art gallery, 855 at the Arts Center, on property we purchased in 2005. We coordinate visual art competitions and curated exhibits. We provide educational opportunities for children and adults. We are designing a building to house our exhibition and educational programs and will be conducting a capital campaign. We sponsor artistic programs such as poetry readings, craft workshops, dance workshops, musical performances, outdoor sketching classes, ArtStroll, mural painting and installation, artists studio tours and more proposed by members of the community.

History:
Culture and the arts are instinctive in the human race and integral to our Carpinteria Community. We can trace artistic expression in our area as far back as the Chumash. The Carpinteria Art League, the Carpinteria Community Church Craft Center, and Step One : a Gallery were all created to sponsor the arts in Carpinteria. The City of Carpinteria's "A Community Vision" for 2020 workshop included an Arts and Culture Committee. This committee highlighted the area's need for a Performing Arts and Community Center. Carpinteria Valley Arts Council was established in 2001. With the Community Arts Center Project and the purchase of an Arts Center site, CVAC has become the lead orqanization in the campaign for a Community Arts Center. CVAC works to bring together the many artists and art forms celebrated in our community.
