Dalton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau
Our mission is to enhance the local economy by promoting the long-term development of the Dalton Area as a hub for tourism, meetings, conventions, & sports events.
Description:
The Dalton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is the destination marketing arm of the Dalton and Whitfield County Area. We bring in organized travel tour groups, meetings, major conventions, and large sporting events throughout the year. The economic impact from our out of town guests that were serviced by the Dalton Area CVB in 2008 was over $5,000,000. All the large groups we bring in require community volunteers to help us provide the level of service and hospitality that will leave a positive impression of our community. The Dalton Area CVB also operates the Visitor Information Center and Gift Shop located in the old Freight Depot on Cuyler Street. We help organize major festivals, concerts and community-wide sports events that bring many visitors to Dalton/Whitfield.
History:
The Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has been serving the local community for more than 15 years. Some examples of large groups and events we have worked with in the past include: The Tour de Georgia International cycling event for which Dalton was the start of the Signature Stage for four years. The Liberty Tree Festival, a four-day event of festivities including school field trips and outdoor festival of live music, children's activities and fireworks. The Raisin Hope Ride an annual bike ride that raises funds for the Saul Raisin Foundation to help people with brain injuries. The Collegiate Softball Showcase, a multi-day tournament that brings in high school players from all over the Southeast and college coaches and scouts from major Softball teams to recruit new players for their programs.
