Mission: SHARE promotes the concept of giving back to the community by volunteering in the cause of your choice. In so doing people of diverse backgrounds come together in solidarity which helps build and strengthen the larger community while helping those in need. SHARE seeks to assist in the food needs of people in the communities we serve.

Description:
SHARE is a non-profit food buying club offering frozen meats and fish, fresh fruit and vegetables, canned and packaged goods at 30-50% off grocery store prices. SHARE is not a food pantry program. Food is pre-ordered and distributed on a monthly basis.

SHARE relies on the goodwill of volunteers to prepare the orders prior to distribution. Our program has proven helpful to Seniors on fixed incomes, the disabled, single mothers, people without jobs and households looking for ways to save on food costs.

History:
SHARE was founded in San Diego in 1983. The objective was a self help approach to meeting community food needs. Self Help and Resource Exchange became SHARE. In 1984 SHARE came to Milwaukee and has grown to serve 200 host sites throughout all of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan,northern Minnesota and northern Illinois. There are 4 other regional SHARE's throughout the United States. FOLLOWING THE MAY DISTRIBUTION CYCLE SHARE WILL BE CLOSING AFTER 27 YEARS OF HELPING PEOPLE SAVE MONEY ON FOOD THROUGH OUR SELF HELP PROGRAM. OUR THANKS TO THE MANY VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE HELPED MAKE THIS PROGRAM A SUCCESS AS PART OF THE SHARE FAMILY.
