The ALS Association of Georgia, Inc. (ALSA of GA) is the only nationally affiliated not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS in Georgia. ALSA of GA covers all the bases - research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy - in providing help and hope to those facing the disease. The mission of ALSA of GA is to find a cure for and improve living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALSA of GA symbolizes the hopes of people everywhere that Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) will one day be a disease of the past - relegated to historical status, studied in medical textbooks, conquered by the dedication of thousands who have worked ceaselessly to understand and eradicate this perplexing killer.
History:
The ALS Association of Georgia, Inc. was founded in 1988 by volunteers to respond to the critical needs of people with ALS, and to give support to the family and friends who care for ALS patients. Throughout the years this dedicated group has been of immeasurable value to thousands of Georgians. Currently, the organization reaches out to over 3,000 people in Georgia, including patients, families, friends, and employers.
